Information Technology Services

Information Technology Services has been the primary or core business of Bekemeier & Associates since its founding in January, 1984. Bekemeier & Associates has worked extensively with all versions of the RPG programming language developed by IBM primarily for the IBM midrange family of computers. Mike Bekemeier has spent the last 19 years as a consultant in the San Diego area providing services such as:  customized applications, systems design and integration services, conversion of applications from one midrange machine or platform to another, system backup and contingency planning services, and more!

In addition to custom RPG (& RPGLE) programming, Bekemeier & Associates has developed a number of proprietary businness applications for the AS/400. Our proprietary applications are:

        Project Management

This is an application we developed in house to track projects we were working on, time spent on the projects, status of the projects, as well as a useful tool for billing for the project time.

        Retail Processing Application

This application is for a point of sale operation that needs to track inventory from receipt to sale. It has been used successfully on PC's using a RPG like simulated environment.

        Application Security and Online Help

This application provides programs to handle application security beyond the security provided by the AS/400 operating system as well as making online help text easier to include in all applications. All Bekemeier & Associates applications include this package. This package can be easily integrated into most other applications to provide basic enhancements to any package.

        Inventory Control

A standard or generic inventory control application which can be customized to virtually any operation. Some of the features include multiple inventory locations, multiple types of inventories, detailed tracking of all inventory transactions and the ability to create new transaction codes and define external to the programs how they should be handled by the programs.

Y2k Application (yes 2000 has come and gone, but....)

This application performed the task of adding the appropriate length to any and all date fields in any known date field format for updating software as well as databases for the year 2000. This application contained many, many subroutines and utilities that were and still are very useful in analyzing applications and databases to find where fields are used as well as how they are used to determine changes that are required when any application is to be expanded. It successfully performed y2k date expansion for several companies and could easily be used for any other type of field expansion or application or data bases analysis.
